The former Cowboys quarterback offered his thoughts.
Getting any two people to agree on Dak these days is a tall order. With him being in the middle of contract negotiations with the Cowboys the merits of how much Dak “deserves” a new deal are a never-ending debate.
So much of this is because the Cowboys also have deals with Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper to consider. The challenge of signing a quarterback is a mountain of its own, coupling it with deals for elite skill position players makes it feel like Everest.
This is something that former Cowboys quarterback and now CBS superstar Tony Romo was asked about on Tuesday. Romo believes all three deals will eventually get done, and he spoke about how Dak Prescott has performed since ascending to the spot he’s in now.

“In the NFL… quarterbacks, running backs, receivers, it doesn’t matter. It’s about the production. Are you winning, are you helping your football team win, and are you producing? And Dak’s done that since the moment he stepped on the field.”
It was only three years ago that Dak did in fact step on the field, then for an injured Romo. What Prescott has done in terms of performance has been remarkable for a player’s first three seasons, but still, people have their doubts.
So often when it comes to contracts people talk about paying for future performance as opposed to past production. Hopefully there’s plenty of production in the Cowboys future as that is what everybody is going to expect from Dak Prescott when he ultimately does sign his new deal with the team.
