Who could it be?

Besides the fact that they’ll actually be playing football for real less than a month from now, things have been mostly centered around contracts for the Dallas Cowboys throughout training camp.

Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, and Amari Cooper are all eligible for contract extensions. Both Prescott and Cooper are entering the final year of their current deals, Elliott has two years left and is currently holding out while in Cabo. Getting those three done has been priority numbers one through three for most people, but Jerry Jones hinted on Tuesday that there might be somebody else who gets a new deal before them. As in somebody that’s not one of those three (his answer to this question starts about the 9:40 mark).

Jerry Jones: Would it be better if we can get one of the players done than to, and I’m not being trite, than to not have any done of the ones you’re talking about? The answer is yes. What may surprise you is we may come up with one that you haven’t been asking about.

The reason for focus on Prescott, Elliott, and Cooper is obvious. They’re players who dramatically impact the team’s ability to win, not that there aren’t others, and as one collective triumvirate they have formed a new version of triplets. You know how much the Cowboys love them a set like that.

There are a handful of other Cowboys who the team could be negotiating with that aren’t part of this trio, though. Who do you think it could be?
