Report: Amari Cooper dealing with “more of a ligament thing than a bruise”

Could Amari Cooper’s injury be more than we’ve heard?

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper has been dealing with a heel bruise for over a week now, we didn’t see him in the preseason game at San Francisco for this reason (he might not have played if totally healthy, to be fair).

Jason Garrett continues to update Cooper’s status as “day-by-day”; like all bruises, a heel bruise theoretically takes time to heal (no pun intended).

What if it’s more than a heel bruise, though? Could that be why he’s been sidelined for so long (it hasn’t been that long). Appearing on 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday morning, the mothership’s Mickey Spagnola reported that it was “more of a ligament thing.”

It wouldn’t be great news to find out that Cooper was actually dealing with something related to his ligament, but it might not be the end of the world either. We’re still about a month away from the regular season beginning so he has plenty of time to rest and get right, but hopefully the severity of his injury is in fact known.

The Cowboys need Amari Cooper to compete this season. Taking every precaution with him is the absolute right approach.
