Good morning, McCoven!
And welcome to the final week of the baseball season. Aside from the Rockies, and the off-day today, there’s a lot to look forward to this week. And also a fair amount to dread.
Friday night will be the Willie Mac Award presentation, the first that has taken place since the passing of McCovey last fall. Plenty of fan favorites from over the years will make their way back to the park for this event, and will probably stick around through the weekend.
Sunday will feature both pre and post game celebrations honoring Bruce Bochy’s retirement. And while we’re not yet sure who will be in attendance, the Giants are promising that it will be a huge celebration, featuring a lot of beloved players to honor Bochy’s time with the organization. So I’m thinking Barry Bonds. I’m thinking Matt Cain. I’m thinking Brian Wilson. I’m thinking Tim Lincecum, if I’m lucky. And I’m thinking Willie Mays if we’re all very lucky.
So make sure to get your tickets, or if you can’t make it, to set your DVRs. You aren’t going to want to miss any of it.
